Indian eVisa Application

India eVisa is an online visa that the Indian Government introduced in 2014. This decision aimed at facilitating and speeding up the entire procedure of obtaining a visa necessary to enter India for the purposes of leisure, business, or medical treatment.

Currently, India offers five types of electronic visas depending on the individual's traveling plans. The documents differ in terms of validity period and permitted duration of stay as well as the activities that one may take up while in India.

Eligible applicants only need to fill out the online application form, upload necessary documents, and cover the service fee. When the visa is approved, they will receive the approved document via e-mail.

Indian eVisa Types

Among the available types of eVisa for India, you will find:

e-Tourist Visa: a multiple-entry permit serving tourism-related purposes, valid for 30 days from the date of your first arrival in India. For longer trips choose the One-Year or Five-Year eVisa.
e-Business Visa: a multiple-entry visa covering business-related activities, valid for 1 year (365 days) from the date of grant; each continuous stay in India may last up to 180 days.
e-Conference Visa: a single-entry visa issued for a 30-day stay to delegates wishing to participate in seminars, conferences, and workshops.
e-Medical Visa: a multiple-entry visa issued for the purpose of medical treatment in India, valid for 1 year (365 days) from the date of arrival in India.
e-Medical Attendant Visa: a multiple-entry visa for attendants of an e-Medical Visa holder (at most 2 attendant visas per e-Medical Visa); it can be obtained only by family members of the patient, is valid for 1 year (365 days) from the date of arrival and cannot be extended.
One-Year eVisa: a multiple-entry visa issued for numerous tourism-related activities, valid for 365 days
Five-Year eVisa: a multiple-entry visa issued for tourism-related activities, valid for 5 years*

*Nationals of the USA and Japan may stay in India for up to 180 days during each visit when holding a 5-year India eVisa.

*Maximum stay in India during one calendar year should not exceed 180 days for 1-year and 5-year eVisas.

*Continuous stay during each visit to India with an e-Business visa should not exceed 180 days. In case of a stay of more than 180 days, a traveler has to register with FRRO/FRO within 2 weeks of arrival.

Receive your eVisa: go to your e-mail inbox and download the approved visa delivered in a PDF file.

Indian eVisa Validity Period

Since there are five different types of Indian electronic visas, their validity periods differ as well.

The Indian e-Business Visa stays effective for 365 days from the date of grant. The e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant Visas are valid for 365 days from the date of arrival in India. All Indian eVisas are non-extendable and non-convertible.

There are also three different options of visas issued for tourism purposes, which remain valid either for one month, one year, or five years.

Important: The applicant's passport must remain valid for at least 180 days (6 months) from the planned date of arrival in India.
